An icon is someone who is talented.
An icon is someone who has made a difference in the world.
An icon is not created overnight.
An icon grows and practices their art until finally, recognition happens.
An icon is never forgotten.
Here are some of my favorite icons:
-Marie Antoinette
She was the last Queen of France and one of the more famous victims of the guillotine during the French Revolution. A lot of people say that she did not deserve to die.
-Neil Armstrong
He was the first person to set foot on the Moon.
-Charlie Chaplin
He set the stage for what most of us consider “comedy” to be today He was like Mr. Bean, only shorter.
-Kurt Cobain
Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of grunge band Nirvana. The circumstances of his death have become a topic of fascination and debate. Lexx calls his songs "genius", it always amazes me how geniuses are able to take their own life, even when they have so much success and talent.
-Leonardo Da Vinci
Artist/Inventor
-James Dean
He is considered to be one of the greatest actors of all time. He is probably my most favorite ''Black & White'' movie actor.
-Princess Diana
Humanitarian/Philanthropist/Royalty. Her death is known to be iconic.
-Albert Einstein
He was a genius and he had dyslexia.
-Mahatma Gandhi
-Greta Garbo
She was a very famous Swedish-American actress.
-Judy Garland
She played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz and starred in many films after that. Her daughter is Liza Minnelli.
-Audrey Hepburn
My favorite ''Black & White'' movie actress.
-Houdini
A talented magician who disappeared during one of his tricks.
-Micheal Jackson
Singer/Songwriter/Dancer/Performer/King of Pop
-Helen Keller
Helen Keller was not born blind and deaf; it was not until she was nineteen months old that she contracted an illness described by doctors as “an acute congestion of the stomach and the brain,”. The illness did not last for a long time, but it left her deaf and blind. She was a author and advocate for humanitarian causes. She is also the first deaf and blind person to earn a Bachelor’s degree.
-John Lennon
The first actress to be paid $1 million for "Cleopatra". She has violet eyes.
-Mother Teresa
-Andy Warhol
Warhol was a photographer and artist who produced many works of art, photos, and films. He created pop art. He's my favorite artist.
-Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was an actress, singer and model. She died under mysterious circumstances that were officially ruled as a suicide. Widely considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses ever, Monroe was married to a few husbands, and she was rumoured to have had an affair with JFK while he was president.
There are so many icons in the world, but if I named all of them this post would be a lot longer than it already is. These were just a few of my favorite icons, although I think my favorite icon would have to be Marilyn Monroe.
I hope one day I can inspire someone just as much as all these icons have inspired me.
